I had the immense pleasure of painting over 40 images representing Montreal in the eyes of the people who have arrived from elsewhere and now call the city home. Montreal is a special place, divided by language but also united by that same struggle. The project is closely related to the work I do in Montreal’s Classes d’acceuil / Welcome Classes (maybe like ESL classes in the rest of Canada but very specialized and also including some cultural context.) I love working with people who are new to Montreal! I once was too and had to find my way around Quebec’s lively and particular French (which I love). Anyway. So excited to show finally be able to show you all La première mission de GELLO ! This early reader novella is a sweet story about an angel out doing good in the world is so cute and feel good. You’ll get a peek into what I think heaven looks like (popcorn and watermelon trees, dogs in capes, pink sheep) and of course, the story (written by Lou Beauchesne) features an adorable dog!
